There is no set figure for this as it is a mathmatical calculation based on speed, the rate of deceleration, YAW rate, and the direction that the car is hit at which is done inside the airbag controller. There are three sensors in the car that all have equal input to the controller and two of the three have to indicate a crash in serious enough parameters to signal a deploy condition. Chances are that if the bulb flashes about six or seven times when first started and does not come on at all after that, the system is armed and ready to do its job. Remember to keep your seatbelts on as the bags are designed to work with them. Good luck.

All I can tell ya is that I have a 1998 Cavalier that I was in an accident in 2 weeks ago, it was hit by 2 pickup trucks, one on the front and one on the side, and neither of my airbags deployed. Kind of scary!!

As long as you have your seat-belt on, it should deploy at 20mph or higher on a front impact collision (for front airbags)
