Actually, Franklin concluded that it was not possible. He had 13 points, but concluded that if he reached the first 12, the final 13th point of humility would not be possible. But those 13 points are still the finest guide to moral improvement ever written.
The goal of sustained moral perfection is not achievable, because there are moral decisions to which there is no perfect answer. Possible examples: Breaking a promise for the good of the promisee, killing to protect the life of another human, telling your wife that the tuna cassarole was great last night.
And since there is at least one condition during which moral perfection is not possible, the entire concept of moral perfection is not possible. Unfortunately. But we should continue to try, because being closer to moral perfection is always better than being farther from moral perfection.

Moral Perfection....a concept of what?....Moral perfect on a universal standard would be impossible because the definition alone of moral perfection differs from person to person. Many philosophers have spent their lifetime trying to answer this question. I myself believe along of the lines with Kant that the importance of a good will is more the object trying to obtain. That the consequences cannot explain why our actions are morally good or morally bad. Kant suggests that moral judgements must focus on the motives behind our actions. He felt that we should not be judged on the basis of what we achieve, but rather on the basis of what we try to achieve. We are good, not because we succeed in our efforts, but rather because we try as hard as we can.

Moral is changeable depending on the consensus of the people living at the time. Ethics is unchanging and applies to all men and all times. Ethics relate to the spirit entity, its character or spiritual development.
Yes, we can achieve. Life is a never-ending search to know right and wrong through first-hand experiences. We learn from failing and doing better at the next opportunity. First realization, then actualization. We must live accordingly. Deeds are the proof of the learning.

When you know what's right or wrong you can try to achieve it. People aren't perfect though. However, if you know abortion is morally wrong, don't do it. Don't lie or cheat. Some things are easy to be perfect in.

Yes. However ironically, when reached, the perfected moral state dissolves any notion of a self or ego.

I'm not sure morals exist outside of the thoughts of someone who thinks that they know what the are.

Not according to the Bible. Because of Adam and Eve's choice the entire human race fell and inherited a sinful nature - every last one of us. Jesus came to set the human race free and give us a new nature - His.

----If indeed we had perfect make-up like Adam & Eve did, absolutely. To them rejecting anything out of sync from what God ,reasonably requested was the simplest of things.
--Christ always had moral perfection, because as a perfect human, he did completely opposite of what Adam did,--he choose to love his God & Father.--and willingly obeyed his reasonable wishes!
--Unless you believe the filth of "The DaVinci Code" , "Passover Plot" and other unsubstantiated contempt.
--We struggle with our thoughts that could easily develope into desire, and then we can committ. --unfortunately the thoughts, desires , & comitting are many times of an immoral nature.
So this 4000 year scenario is similar to what we are faced with:
(Genesis 6:5) “5 Consequently Jehovah saw that the badness of man was abundant in the earth and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time.”
--That does not mean that we can't control our every inclination.
--Have not wild beasts been brought under of control?
--So with our "wild beast" like thinking we can have measurable success.
--Biblical references indeed provide a marvelous hope that someday indeed we will have the perfection of the Christ, as he was on earth. An interesting prophecy which primarily applies to humans loosing the wild beast like traits and becoming peace like as there are animals on the earth as such:
(Isaiah 11:1-3) “11 And there must go forth a twig out of the stump of Jes´se; and out of his roots a sprout will be fruitful. 2 And upon him the spirit of Jehovah must settle down, the spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the spirit of counsel and of mightiness, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah; 3 and there will be enjoyment by him in the fear of Jehovah.. . .”
--Under the rulership of Christ from heaven note please the transformation that will occur:
(Isaiah 11:6-9) “6 And the wolf will actually reside for a while with the male lamb, and with the kid the leopard itself will lie down, and the calf and the maned young lion and the well-fed animal all together; and a mere little boy will be leader over them. 7 And the cow and the bear themselves will feed; together their young ones will lie down. And even the lion will eat straw just like the bull. 8 And the sucking child will certainly play upon the hole of the cobra; and upon the light aperture of a poisonous snake will a weaned child actually put his own hand. 9 They will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain; because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah. .”
(Isaiah 65:25) “25 “The wolf and the lamb themselves will feed as one, and the lion will eat straw just like the bull; and as for the serpent, his food will be dust. They will do no harm nor cause any ruin in all my holy mountain,” Jehovah has said.”
This would be a marvelous transformation, with the long range occurrence of wild animals becoming as they were in the Garden of Eden.
--Some food for thought!
