Baby Showers are parties thrown for the expectant woman. It can be before or after the baby is born and it can be including husbands or not.

There is often a theme to the party eg Disposable, Blue, Country or Noah's Ark. Sometimes it is a focus on stuff for baby, sometimes it is a focus on stuff for mum.

Often the exectant's sister or mother or friend throws the party but it is becoming common practice for the woman herself to throw the party. It's a great way to celebrate womanhood.

people, usually just females, and in the afternoon, like a Sunday, 2-5, [or whenever] come to your house w/ baby gifts, they stay a while, sometimes play games, and have refreshments, lunch meats, cheese, sandwich rolls, chips, mabey donuts, soft drinks, coffee. You open the gifts in front of everyone. After a few hours its over. People usually put up a few decorations for the shower, but not always.
