No. Wages should be dicated by market forces, not policy. Everyone should have the freedom to make their own choices...good or bad. Everyone should also have the freedom to earn as much as they can demand.

To actually put this whole minimum wage issue to rest. Minimum wage is an entry level wage, for some employers. Like fast food, grocery stores, etc. etc. My oldest son works in a grocery store and he did not start at minimum wage and is actually pissed that they may raise the minimum wage, because that devalues his efforts. You can look at the link below to figure out where you stand. As far as encouraging kids to stay in school, it won't do that. They are teenagers they don't think too far ahead.

Well, you know what they say. Life isn't fair.
I have had a truck load of schooling and I barely get by.
However my little sister dropped out of scool in the first 6 weeks of the ninth grade. She is now a millionaire. She started out making minimum wage but she is a go getter. Nothing would have stopped her from fulfilling her dream.
Yes, it urks me a little but that's life. Lol.
Honestly, the moral of the story is, not all people who drop out of school end up on the streets.

I don't think that this is a good idea. In theory, it sounds great. However, if you have people who didn't finish school trying to make it on such a small income, I believe we will end up with even more people on welfare, in addition to a bigger crime and drug problem. No body can make ends meet on a minimum wage income these days.

Thats not going to stop them...most kids in school are not worrying about that. They worried about smoking and drinking and clubs and partying and sex. You just have to instore good morals in your children, meet all their friends, and teach them right from wrong. All these things keep the kids from focusing in school. Just have to be a PARENT and don't give up on them..and teach them not to give up on anything..by encouraging them. I agree with everyone else also

Good idea. I am almost down with college. My aunt said to me that I should be working minimum wage jobs because that's what they are there for.

yea i think so... on the other hand kids that want to drop out should be made to go to a shelter in one of the worst neighberhoods possible. then mom and dad can say "this will be you"

Many reasons kids drop out, not just because they are lazy or stupid.
