I am working so when i retire i can go on an Africian Safari, however i will retire in my late sixties and by then my back will be akeing and my legs will be all crippled and crackeling. So it is basically pointless for humans to save money for their later years when they are less able in their later years!

What can we do to stop our trend? Any ideas?

Do what you can today, while you can. I'm 57 and I've been to every U.S. state but three, most of Canada, most of the Caribbean, Venezuela, Vietnam, and Korea......I've never made much money but I've experience everything at least once.

people need to relax more, take a vacation every once in a while, and it is OK to spend some money as long as you don't spend all of your money, set a decent amount aside for what you will need in the furture, but give yourself a break once in a while. For ex, my sisters are not earning the most money that they will ever earn in their life, and have money saved for the furture, but want to go to italy. despite the fact that they need to work their butts off for the money at the moment, they realize they will never get the chance in the future once they have a family and stuff, so they are enjoying life as it is, and going to italy now.

Everyone who is alive now, keep working until you are 80, or you die.

As new children are born, those working should support their children until they are 35 or 40, giving them their youth to do the things you talk about in retirement.

People would begin their "work lives" at about the age of 40...

And the cycle would go on....
