I think it's a highly over commercialized day for retailers to try to make up slumping sales after xmas.
When I'm part of a couple, I make an effort to let my partner know how much I care all the time...not just on one pre-designated day a year.

Its just another day if I wanted my bf to be there for only 1 day out of the year to make me feel special than I wouldnt need to be with him.lol
