No, it is just a showing of appreciation of another human being.
People can be possessive though, so it is a good idea to know the person you are valentining enough so other people connected to them don't go nutso. If you are being valentined, take it as a compliment. For instance, I was given some badly needed help over the holidays from a friend of mine and his wife last year. I valentined the couple with a nice flower arraigngement and a big thank you for their help and concern. It went over very well, and was a good thing all around. A librarian was valentined just because she was such a nice person. Thats what writing a note does with the valentine. It clarifies purpose. Don't just write, "Be Mine" or "Love" Make it mean something.

No its not. Valentines day is a day for love and sharing it with someone but it does not mean that he is asking you to be his girlfriend/boyfriend. You may want to ask him/her that in a cute way while your on you date like....." so that mean that we'll be valentines for a long time?.....you come up with something creative.
