Latest computer run have about 4-5 inches of snow falling in and around Elk Grove Village. All models have steady snow falling starting around 3-4 am, but the heaviest looks like it will be mid-morning between 10am -- 1 pm. The wind will be more of a factor than the snow this time around for us, with sustained winds around 20mph and gusts around 40mph, so expect rough travel. Next model runs come out this evening around 8-10pm, which aren't expected to change, but all it takes is for the low pressure to track 75miles more north than forcasted and we will recieve several more inches than already forcasted. I wouldn't expect school to be cancelled for tomorrow where you live, it's possible, but not likely.

I lived in Chicago most of my life. I've left a few times and came back. Recently I left again, so I'm thrilled to be missing a brutal cold winter. I've heard there will be 6 to 9 inches in Chicago. That means 0 chance of a snow day. I have never known CPS, Chicago Public Schools to impose a snow day in the history of my life as a student or teacher there...except the winter of '67 when we had 26 inches of snow in a 24 hour period.
Here in Kentucky, they close some county schools for a 1/2 inch!
Bundle up tomorrow. My bet is anything less than 12 inches and you're off to school. (Unless perhaps you live in the suburbs.)

SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA LATE THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT...BEGINNING SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80 BY MIDNIGHT... THEN SPREADING NORTHWARD TO THE WISCONSIN LINE BY AROUND 3 AM. THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES LATE TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY. TOTAL STORM ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BY LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON SOUTH OF A PONTIAC...TO WATSEKA...TO RENSSELAER LINE...WITH STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 8 INCHES FURTHER TO THE NORTH ACROSS THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR. NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUE INTO TUESDAY...WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH POSSIBLE. THE COMBINATION OF THE SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL PRODUCE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...WITH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS DEVELOPING IN SOME AREAS. TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO DETERIORATE LATE TONIGHT.

Overall, the chances for having high school tomorrow is 1 percent. You will most likely not have school. Stay safe :-)
