Taiwan is still free, but it won't be much longer. We, the US, have always told Red China we will defent Taiwan if they try to reunite forcibly. However, with all our business investments in Red China and our weakened will to fight, if Red China threatens seriously, we will probably say, "That's not nice," and let them do it.

BTW, the UN claims to recognize only legitimate, elected governments. They why do they recognize Red China and not Taiwan? The Chinese government fled to Taiway when the communists took over China. They took over the government by force, not be elections. Taiwan is the only China with a legitimate government, according to the UN's standards.

South Vietnam became communist when we pulled out in 1975 (?). i don't know about North Vietnam.

Taiwan is not and has never been Communist!! Vietnam became Communist and fought the French for years before the US took on the battle and we fought the Vietnam War, which, of course, we lost when we abandoned our goals of liberating South Vietnam from Communism.

Chow!!

Taiwan never became Communist. In fact, mainland China has an offer to nuke Taiwan if it does not become Communist in the near future.

Vietnam became Communist because it seemed to the Vietnamese that it was a good idea at the time. It may be that they have repented of it.

Want,

Taiwan is not a communist country...China IS...big difference!

Vietnam became a communist state when part of the population bought into marxist (un-capitalized, purposefully) lies fed to them by the former (failed) Soviet Union. The North Vietnamese Army and VietCong were supported heavily by the USSR and Red China...

The U.S. won the battles, but lost the War due to political reasons.

Also, Russia and the West (aka America and Western Europe) were splitting control of the world up. They divided Vietnam into 2 parts, one Russia's ***** and the other the West's *****.
