Branding is a product's image, or the perception you want consumers to have of it. Pricing strategy should not work against or erode that image. If part of the brand's image is "good value" for example, lower pricing may be a good option. Pricing the product too high will cause consumers to lose the perception of a good value. If it's image is "luxury, upscale" the price needs to reflect that. Too low and it will start to be perceived as cheap, lower quality. Marketers of consumer goods often use price elasticity analyses to help determine the optimum procing strategy for their products.

Branding could be double edged sword. From one hand, you might adjust the price in order to brand the product/service more effectively and quickier. For example, you might increase the price so that the buyer's perception of value goes up. Alternatively, you might lower your price so that "word gets out". In that case, you are concerned more about branding than you are about pricing.
