I am running Windows XP. Recently i defragmented my c:/ drive. I could finish defragmenting my files but it stated that some files couldnt be defragmented. However, when i try to view the files there were no files being shown.

I had researched and even run " chkdsk c: /f " but however the problem still exists.

What should i do?

I had even defragmented in for more than 10 times and restarted it for more than 3 times but however the problem still exists.
How?

Some files, particularly in the operating system need to be located in specific places on your hard drive which means they cannot be relocated. This is probably what this message relates to. Also if you have files which are contiguous they don't need to be defragmented, the message could also relate to this.

Either way, I don't think you need to worry about it...

Here u should know what is defragmentation is 'it is allocation of the place to the data what you have stored in the hard disk for some files like the installed files windows and other softwares it does not defrangment that's why the files may be defragmented but u should do defrag for the other drives for may be for every 12 days . It does not show that these files are defraged but it shows in colors blue, red that shows defrag files and not defrag files etc.,

Do not worry about it. Windows defragmenter, even tho it is much better than nothing, is a low quality product. The old defrag, in Windows 98, had a bug that said, "You dont need to defrag this drive now, do you want to do it anyway?"..even when it needed defrag.
You can try running the defrag again, but it wont harm anything and wont affect your performance.
