Of course you can claim her on your tax return...if she had been born on December 31, you could STILL claim her.

A lot of people told me the same thing, but what I went and did was asked my sisters accountant, in which he filed my taxes with my baby that was just born in November on it. You get a full deduction for the baby, so go ahead and next time ask a professional because people will have you going in every direction but the right one. Think of it this way, you were pregnant the whole year, getting prepared for this baby, had to take time off of work to deliver the baby, and after the delivery. You've been taking care of this child for the whole year, don't you think???

Yes, you can claim her.

Anybody born at any time in 2006, even one minute before midnight on New Year's Eve can be claimed on the parents income tax return.

You can claim her in 2006.
In fact you could claim her no matter when she was born in 2006, even December 31, as long as it was before midnight.

As long as your baby was born by December 31 of the tax year in question, the baby qualifies as a dependent.

if she was born 1 minute before midnight on new years eve,
you can claim her.
if someone passed 1 minute after midnight on new years day
they can also be claimed for this year.
it is only necessary that a person be alive at some point in the
year for them to be claimed for the whole year.
