HW: Only 4% of the US population has Type AB. Your friend has type AB. Give reasons to why he should donate.

Your friend should donate because the few AB will eventually need a blood transfusion. Since there are so few, more people will have to donate. However, a blood type AB can take any type of blood. If anything, a blood type O should give because everyone can use O. AB are universal recipients, while O are universal donors. In essence, there is no real essential reason they need to donate, but diversity in blood stockpiles.

A person with Type AB has a fairly rare blood type, so most donors will not have this type. However, blood type AB is known as the universal recipient.

I don't know. I have type O negative which is the universal blood type so I try to give blood when I can because they can give it to anyone. It makes me feel good to know I may be saving lives.

He doesn't need to, since many people with type O (universal donor) are around.
