Nah. It says that first the entire region will be peaceful. I don't see that happening any time soon.

I am unsure of your question about the war in the east.
But if you follow the bible, there are several things that must happen before the world can end.
1. The Jews must rebuild the temple.
2. The Ark of the covenant must be found.
until these two things happen the world is here for a while.
This list is not all inclusive, several other things must happen if you follow the bibles view.

The war you speak of is a war to end all wars as we were told to expect in WWI and WWII. Many people thought those wars were IT!
Before the war you speak of comes there will come a surprising peace established by prince of darkness himself. That won't be hard. When the trouble maker stops the trouble stops since the trouble maker controlls both sides of the table.

There is no such thing as a end, only a new beginning.
The war you speak of will take place just east of the so called "holy land"; Syria most likely, as the armies of the east (Russia, China, Iran) converge against Israel.........The anti-Christ will rise out of the same region that Christ came from (modern day Israel) and his "beast" will be his greatest ally, a very wealthy country that will establish a one world economy and will help to establish a peace treaty between Israel and its enemies. Any predictions to whom this beast may be?

for and this is one of those signs. There are a

I suspect this could be the big one, when we go into Iran we may just set off a chain of events that will bring Russia into the picture and that could end up with nukes. That could be the end of the world as we know it. Maybe that is why Bush is not woried about the national debt. When he gets done there will be nobody left to pay or receive.

No man knows when the world will end. No matter how many have tried to predict when it would end, no one really knows. Jesus said that no man knew, not even he knew, it is entirely up to God.
