I have seen them many times in mid-Manitoba away from the city lights and I have seem in Vancouver (once). Generally though they are visible from about the middle of Canada north to the pole. You ought to be able to see them anywhere in Alaska. They really are a sight to see!

Near the North Pole, but depending on atmospheric conditions, they can occur in Canada, and in the Northern United States.
