Hi,

the word 'spa' originally was the name for a spring (like Las Vegas-literally 'The Springs') but for springs which had medicinal value.

Lourdes is a Spa, the City of Bath in England was built around spas. Many towns in many parts of the world are spas. All the spas are springs. I suppose then, that the short answer to your question is 'Spring'.

Of course modern usage includes the pressurised artificial jaccuzzi-style baths that proliferate in affluent America. I have chosen the original English word to explain. I'm sure many sellers of jaccuzzi-style baths will be willing to explain the merits, price, etc. of their products.

Hope this helps,

BobSpain
