He named his brothers and his son kings. For example, he named his brother Louis Bonaparte King of Holland. When he had a son with Princess (Empress) Marie Louise of Austria, he named him Napoleon Bonaparte, King of Rome. Brother Joseph Bonaparte was King of Italy. When King Louis of Holland did not follow his orders, he removed him. The Nederlanders remember King Louis fondly ever since.

He ruled France, and has spread to Portugal, Spain, Sicily, Italy, the Swiss Confederation, the Confederation of the Rhine, Prussia, Warsaw, Naples and Austria.
