what college courses are required for every one to take? are the different at universitys??

These courses you are referring to are called "General Education" courses. They vary state by state and from public and private universities. These general requirements are typically taken during the first 2 years of college attendance. The other two years of schooling are comprised of the classes within a major focus, the field of English, History, Accounting etc. General Ed. courses can be taken at community college and then transferred to a 4 year university.

I agree with the above poster...and it can be different from college to college as well. For example, when I went to school in the '90's, I was an engineering major. I needed E110 (basic English everyone had to take) and 1 diversity course as defined by the school. But if I was an Arts & Science major, I would have had to take at least 1 semester in a foreign language too.

Yup, it's different from school to school. I'd look at the course catalog at each university I was interested in for specifics.
