Absolutely NOT. He will be sworn in in January of 2009.
And as pointed out above, Obama is only 50% black ancestry.
People calling him black are still stuck in the slavery days mindset.
The most telling comment was the one by limpblimp about people shouldn't vote for him because "blacks" don't have leadership experience in federal politics.
Nobody seems to mention that he has more experience in federal politics than the last 5 presidents did when they took office.

I believe America is ready for the 1st black president, but is it going to happen...I'm not so sure. I think we have a better chance this term with the first woman president. (Prayer for Obama...I hope he does win)

Obama is only 1/2 black so does that count? Because if less that 100% counts, and all man is from africa, then we've already had our 1st black president, since we're all black decendents

Sadly No. This man is highly qualified...intelligent and everything a good presidents would be..but theres no way in hell that the Southern States are going to vote for this man. No way...although many people would like to see it happen...including me...I am pretty sure that this will not happen anytime soon.

I'd probably vote for him. Although I wish the media would stop obsessing over the candidates' races and genders and tell us about the issues. If Hillary and Obama use their minority status to distract us from the issues, I'll vote Edwards in a heart-beat.

My guess is that a woman will become the president before a black person will.

I don't have a problem with a black president, or any other color for that matter; but given the only current black candidate, I sure hope not!

I honestly believe America is ready for a minority president - just not an idealistic, anti-war liberal - regardless of sex or color.
