A school (usually a middle school or high school or prep school) that you attend and you also live on campus in a dorm. "Boarding" as in, room and board.

Different than college, though. You can live wherever you want when you're in college. In boarding school all the students live together on campus.

A boarding school is a school where you live kind of like most colleges are. Usually boarding school for pre-college years is very expensive as not too many junior high and high schoolers attend such schools.
