I slip and fell on plastic at work, and was told i had a knee contusion, and it was okay to go back to work the next day. i complained about having more pain the next day and was told that i could return to work on Monday . i then requested an MRI and found out three days later i had a torn ligament, Synovial cyst, and limited movement.Right now my medical needs are covered under workers comp and i'm also recieving my base pay ( no commision). Should i still hire my own private lawyer if workers comp is covering my medical cost?

Yes, coming from someone who has been dealing with this for 2+ years, your employer will not have your recovery in mind. Work comp will only cover what they deem medically necessary. My advice is to get your own doctor and an attorney. Your doctor has your medical interests in his/her sights, not a dollar figure controlling what you can or cannot have done. Your attorney will make sure that you get the required medical care that your doctor is requesting. WC will pay until you reach their limit that has been set on your case. You will be sent to numerous doctors and have to explain what has happened to you over and over....The idea here is to do as little as possible to get you healed. Whether you are better or not is not their concern.

As for those whom are indicating that you don't need an attorney, my guess is that they have not had to go through this nightmare. I am NOT looking at getting rich off of this, nor do I want a lump sum settlement, what I want is my knee fixed. End of story. The attorney is there to help me get that done.

Good Luck and get your own doctor and attorney. You will need both.

Forget about the lawyer. Workers' comp is all you'll get. Once upon a time people had to sue for damages. It was a very slow, very expensive process. A law was finally passed giving people workers' comp instead of a lawsuit. In most cases it was better for everybody. Under current law, you can't successfully sue for damages unless your employer hasn't complied with the law concerning workers' comp.

My sister had a friend who sued her work when she fell on a slippery floor, claiming that it was their fault the hallway was not maintained properly. She got a lump sum payment, but lost her job. After about 2 years, she regretted it, she hasn't been able to get another comperable job since then.

You don't need to get a lawyer unless your employer tries to deny you your worker's comp benefits, such as saying that you don't need a surgery that your doctor says you do, etc.

i do no longer think of suing somebody is the respond. of course there became no reason there to create hazardous circumstances and persons fall on ice each and each of the time- heck 2 winters in the past i busted my butt interior the parking zone at paintings and gave myself a quite knot on the pinnacle and a wicked case of whiplash( the place my head bounced off the pavement). I truly did no longer sue all of us for no longer noticing the place i became stepping. This became no person's fault - purely like my fall- yet your guy or woman.

blame yourself for being clumbsy, and dont blame others for your lack of balance.

Even if you tripped over plastic, most people wouldnt ruin there knee. You fell get over it.
