No comparison....Jimmy Hendrix is hands down the GREATEST GUITAR PLAYER OF ALL TIME. He died way before his time so just imagine how off the charts spectacular he would be now with that many more years of experience!!! Plus when I think of Prince to tell you the truth his guitar playing ability is not the first thing that comes to mind and I believe this is true of most people when speaking of him. Therefore he pales in comparison to the Late Great Jimmy Hendrix.

I seen Jimmy Hendrix at Woodstock. Prince CANNOT even be compaired to Hendrix. My gosh has your friend ever listened to a full Hendrix track? I think NOT. Jimmy would never wear a womans head wrap on his head either.

As talented as Prince is he will never come close to being the left handed genius the Jimi Hendrix was.
Jimi did things that can't be repeated.

Guitarist with 40 yrs experience here, and one who has seen Hendrix perform live twice...
Each of these performers has their own style and appeal.
They are/were both talented, innovative songwriters.
When it comes down to just guitar playing (technique, style, phrasing, taste) Prince isn't even in the same "weight class." Period.
I can appreciate both men for what they do, but you cannot compare the two as guitarists.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Jimmy Hendrix. i don't like his music but i realize he is probably the best in music history. Hendrix by far.
