Should a fourteen year old boy play "Gears of War", why or why not?

I think it is playable for a 14 yr old. (under supervision of an adult to explain the scenarios). Gears of war, are like most other shooting games out there, like call of duty. The only reason it is rated Mature, is because the characters do use profanity like the S word and I think they slipped in the F word once in the game. Also the main gun can also be used as a chainsaw. Keep in mind that you are going up against the LOCUSTS, (monster creatures that have taken over the world. So your role is to kill these beasts and save the human race. But overall, I would let a 14 yr old play it.

Well it really depends on what the parents think. But i think that a fourteen year old boy should absolutely play Gears of War. It's an awesome game and should not be missed by anyone, no matter what age or gender. But again it's up to the parents

Fourteen is a tough age to call, at that age there is kind of a transition between being influenced easily, and then being able to call something that is clearly fiction, "just a game". I would say let him play it. "Gears of War" has a different context than "Grand Theft Auto" or "Saints Row". I wouldnt think anyone 13 or older would be at all influenced by the game. Mostly because it is obviously fiction and they are not shooting at anything that really resembles a human being. Believe it or not this game will actually make him think more than a regular shoot-em up. Taking cover, flanking enemies, and overcoming certain obstacles will all stimulate his mind in a good way, decision making skills I think.

Anyone with hands should play gear of war. theres no such thing as too graphic or too violent, those are just things paranoid mothers make up to shelter their children. You dont become a killer maniac because of a video game, you do it because of the psycho mom you have to put up with.

I played GTA when I was like 12 or 13, and I turned out fine. Although it might turn out different for some people. It depends on the type of person, and how impressionable he is.

sure, its just an m-rated game which is usually meant for kids 18 years or older, but hey, im 14 and i played it. don't worry, you can change how much you kid sees and hears by going to settings and turning down the language and gore... good luck!
