There is no limit on the number of terms a US senator can have.

The record is held by Robert Byrd, who is currently serving his 9th term. He began serving as West Virginia's senator in January 1959, and was re-elected last year.

Senators may be re-elected for an unlimited number of terms. This is not uncommon; many have long careers.
