best way would be to boot from a so called live cd and scan your computer for viruses with it
if you still have your windows installation disk (I am assuming you got windows installed) you can go to this site
http://www.ubcd4win.com/
and following the sites isntructions build a such a CD to recover from your virus problem

I'm sorry but it's already in the system by the sound of things, even if you do get to delete it, it will still be there. only way to stop virus is to stop it before it enters the computer, once it hits there's nothing a virus protector can do. If your virus protector didn't detect it in the first place then it's not up to date or isn't any good. Look I know how you feel, same thing happened to me about 2 years ago. I downloaded free virus protectors from online, a few of them, but none would work.
Try asking a technican what you should do,preferably one you know otherwise it costs alot, or search for computer forums/message boards online. They'd list help (if there is any) for this type of problem. good luck

Relax,take a deep breath.
Okay, I'm going to assume your running windows, which unfortunately more that 80% of the world runs and that's how you get these viruses, that and your not careful enough.
No virus defender works because new strands of viruses come out every hour, making them obsolete in minutes, not to mention that it probably runs when windows starts up and is tied to windows so it would crash the system to attempt to get it off with windows running,so we are not.
Do you have a flash drive?
If not then go buy one at least 128k should do,then go download Damn Small Linux,I prefer the acronym DSL. Add a extension to the install following that documentation and add a program called Clam AV Anti-virus.
After this boot the computer with the flash drive connected then when prompted press and hold whatever button to access the bios, look for boot options and put the hard drive last, the flsh drive,if shown, first.
Then when DSL runs follow the instructions and when given a prompt, type, without the quotation marks, "to-ram" this will load DSL into ram working faster and letting you download the updates to Clam.
Close the introduction menu, right click the desktop look for myDSL extensions or something like that and look for Clam, update it and run it on your C drive.

What is the exact name of this virus?

(2) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode
(3a) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

Try SystemRestore to an earlier time when virus wasnt there. Its now in REgistry. Its a Trogan, not a virus.

Go to Start, Programs, Accesories, SystemREstore, and restore to an earlier date on the calendar. Reboot computer it will be gone.

how did the pc get the virus?
If it was surfing the net and your company doesnt allow that - your sacked, no argument.
if it was opening an attachment from an email you may be able to get away with if it was a work email. if it's from anyone other than work related, again - your sacked, no argument.

the odds are stacked against you.

fess up to your IT dept how you got the virus, they might fo easy on you.

and don't try to use ignorance of IT or technology as an excuse.
they'll sack you in a second.

and ignore all the people advising you to try and fix it yourself, let someone qualified do it.

find the virus on your computer again and open the taskmanager. Find the virus file using your processes tab and click end prosess, after that delete it. If this fails start your computer in the safe mode and delete it. If this fails than this file isn't the virus its a file that is created by the virus everytime your computer boots and it is one of the many deep rooted viruses that Mcafee, Nortons and Windows live can't fix because it leeched itself into your system files and replaced a needed file. In short, Your screwed.

I had this problem before. Don't bother with any of the FREE virus scans or whatever. If you know what the file is, just remove it.
Go here and download the tool to remove it.
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html
It's small, it's easy, it's free.
Hope you well.
