I was wondering if any mothers can give me some advice on whether or not it would be okay to start her on whole milk already. She is already eating practically everything we eat, just smaller pieces and portions. Would this cause any harm?

it's alright to start whole milk before a year if your child is able to digest it and if you give her a balanced nutrition. Just see to it that you give her all the nourishment that she needs to get through her formula. I know of a friend of mine who has already started whole milk for her 8 month old as he is practically eating everything but just don't replace her entire formula with whole milk just do it gradually as she likes the taste of her formula by now and has adjusted to it. Intially make it 3/4 formula and quater of whole milk and then gradually replace formula with whole milk.

No, the doctors would even tell you this. It is great that your feeding her what your eating BUT it is NOT ok to start her early on cows milk. She has to be at least a year old to drink cows milk. Keep her on formula or whatever else your giving her to drink. Good Luck!

I would definetly wait. The other answers are correct. The whole milk wouldn't give her all the nutrients she needs. The amounts of certain vitamins/minerals could damage her kidneys.
I waited until 12 months..

No, I'd wait if I were you. Let her have the full formula for another month and a half. Then start mixing whole milk ounce by ounce. Most peds are very adiment on keeping them on formula. Plus, their bellies are really sensative to the lactose so you'll have to do it slowly.

Cow's milk: Stick with breast milk or formula until your child's first birthday. Why? Your baby can't digest the protein in cow's milk for the first year, it doesn't have all the nutrients he needs, and it contains minerals in amounts that can damage his kidneys.

it would be best to just check w/ your pediatrician, but if it were me, i would wait until she's 1 yr. that is the recommended age to start on whole milk. otherwise, you never know what could happen. maybe she will develop an intolerence to milk if you start too soon.

i started giving my son whole milk like at 8 months, of course it wasnt like a whole bottle but i would give some sips, it never did any bad to him, and he would eat some table food, i think you just need to try it out on her and see how she reacts....

I would start her out with very little whole milk as she may be lactose intolerant.

Wait until she's 1, just to be on the safe side. What's the hurry?

Babies should be 12 months old and the doctor should be the one to tell you.
