how do you put on splash cologne?

From what I know I'm should put some on my palms and rub it onto my neck, but doesn't rub "squish" the scent and make it not last as long?

Any other method to apply splash cologne?

place a drop or two on your hand , rub together and pat your face and neck , a little is better than alot.
