I'm 16 and I just wrote a book and I sent it to the NY Literary Agency for representation and they accepted it but they said it needed to be critqued/edited by a --critque/editor before it could be published, but I am dead broke, koz I spent all my money on my mom's hospital bill (she was in the hospital for major surgery) so I dont have the money to hire a critque/editor, so I was wondering if there is anyone here who is EXTREMELY good in literature or who is an author or former editor who could help critque/edit my novel, out of the love of their heart or out of kindness? Or as a "pay it foward" gesture. I really need help. Thank you, I hope someone can help.

Little Girl:
I'm glad I opened this one. DO NOT! DO NOT! pay for these people to critque your work. They are rip off artists. Check what I say below. I paid good $$ for an editor to proof read my manuscript. I found he had missed many things. I had my, niece, an 'A' student do my proof reading after this. She done a far better job and did not want $$ for doing it. Now see below, especially the warning part.
There are many publishers out there and believe me, it is hard to find one. I spent two years and many, many manuscripts sent with only three replies to the negative. One took three years to reply? Just type in (Canadian) USA or English Literary Agency's and try some of these. If your work is excepted there are no charges to you. They will give you upfront $ and a percentage on books sold. Usually about 15%. Best selling authors can demand much, more. Good luck.
I went the self publish route. Very hard row to hoe. It worked for me only because I am retired and had time to do many book signings.
I write this mainly to warn you about the bad guys out there trying to take your money for nothing. Check (Warnings & Cautions for Writers) May save you some headaches.

Why don't you tell them you're low on funds and negotiate to use one of their editors or if they could pay for a freelance one to work on your novel, and they can take the cost out of the royalties from your book?

Or you might try taking out a small loan from friends, or have your mom do so.

This sounds kind of like a scam. I would do it, but I suck at writing.

I would do it, but you probably wouldn't want me to (too).
