From what I have read and seen regarding Spider-Man 3, Spidey does go after Sandman. In this movie, Sandman, in his "normal" identity as Cain Marko, is with the burglar who robbed the wrestling promoter, and were working as a team. Apparently, Cain Marko is the one who carjacks Uncle Ben. It isn't clear whether the movie will state whether Cain Marko (Sandman) or the burglar was the one who specifically killed Uncle Ben. Regardless, Cain Marko is still considered and accessory to murder, and this storyline is different from the comic books. Again, this is what I have read, and it may not be 100% accurate. There was an "insider" who posted this info on a comic book movie related website, but it had to be removed later. I caught in time. This isn't being fabricated, it is what I read, so it's up to us to decide if any of it is true.

I dont think the premise of the movie has anything to do with that. Sounds like you just heard a bad rumor. Sandman is just a classic Spidey baddie. He does bad things, so Spider-Man stops him. I don't think there is any personal connection they have made just for the movie.
Most of the movie deals with the Alien symbiote Black Costume that Robbie Robertson brings from space. The alien has a very dark evil side, and when Spidey wears it, it makes him want to think and do evil things. Spider-Man must confront this aspect of his personality and if his good side can defeat his bad side. A personality conflict we all have...which is why The Amazing Spider-Man has always been a great comic book!

IF YOU READ COMICS OR HAVE READ COMICS IN THE PAST, THEN YOU KNOW THEY LOVE TO RE-WRITE STORIES,STORYLINES,ORIGINS,ETC..
I SAW THE TRAILER TOO AND THOUGHT WHAT THE F%CK?
BUT IT'S NOT THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE MOVIE(I DONT THINK)I'M SURE RAIMI & CO. GOT IT RIGHT AGAIN. REMEMBER NO#1(THE SCENE) AT THE END, THE GREEN GOBLIN HAS MARY JANE DANGLING OVER THE BRIDGE.
AND SPIDEY HAS TO SAVE HER ? WELL IN THE COMICS THAT WAS GWEN STACY NOT MARY JANE...
SO YEAH, THAT'S IN THE NEW MOVIE,BUT LET'S SEE HOW THEY CARRY IT OUT...
THE ONE THING I WISHED THEY LEFT OUT OF THIS NEW MOVIE: BRAD RENFO'S WOODEN ACTING!(HE'S WORSE THAN ANAKIN SKYWALKER!)
