They were on the tube. They had (thankfully faulty) bombs, they pulled the ignition switch, their homes had manuals, videos, plans the lot.

They have pleaded not guilty.

Is anyone else as fascinated as I am by what on earth their defence is going to be? (Defence as in "we didn't do it" rather than "we did it but it was right")

With a good lawyer they may get a reduced sentence, because their defence is that the devices were for scare purposes rather than an actual bomb it was, as they say ordinary baking flour and a burner. It is up to the prosecution to prove that it was a functioning device.

Which is interesting as I saw on sky news that they were showing bomb factories in Afghanistan and Jihadi videos to make a point. Which to me is totally unnecessary. If there is any actual proof in a court of law it should be presented, if not, discounted. Simple as that.

I asked this question a few weeks ago anthony, got lots of replies saying about justice must be seen to be done etc, and lots of do gooders proclaiming the human rights angle, ( but they lost the right to be judged human when they set their detonators)

Personally i think when the evidence is so overwhelming that public funds should not be wasted in taking it to trial.

Their defence will be along the lines of god guided them," it was in the cause" but worst of all it was because of the invasion of there country, sort of an eye for an eye revenge, don't know about the Koran but I'm sure it wouldn't sanctify this kind of atrocity ( had they succeeded), but there mind set is that atrocities have been commit ed against them .

No doubt some knowledgeable person will furnish you with what they would regard as a plausible reason for the plee of innocence.

At the end of the day lets hope they get what they deserve and justice be seen to be done

It would be interesting to see a poll carried out to judge public opinion

I wish the security forces would take these people out before they get the chance to kill innocent people. Until the Islamic world and especially British Islamists face the fact that there preachers are telling there youth that anyone other than fundamentalist islamists are lower than pigs then we need to take the war to there door. It amazes me that Islamic women go along with all there bullcrapp.
