After a disappointing finish to a 14-2 season with homefield advantage in the playoffs (only to lose to the stinken Patriots) it seemed like the sooner we moved on to next season the better despite LT's miracle year. But should we be concerned????
* Marty Shottenheimer is in the LAST year of his contract, and declined a $1.4 million 1-year extension. So win or lose, he's done.
* We lost Cam Cameron, the man behind the NFL's #1 scoring offense, who accepted a position as head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
and most recently......
* We alos lost Wade Phillips, our defensive coordinator, who accepted a head coaching position for the Dallas Cowboys!
The good news is that we still have all our key players and play makers. But should we as fans be concerned that by the end of next season we'll be looking for a new head coach and have offensive AND defensive coordinators that are only a year old???

Yes, I am sorry it was a bad move to let Drew Brees go, nothing against Philip Rivers who is one hell of QB but Brees is better.
However despite coaching changes, the chargers are still a playoff team but may soon rely on LT too much

*You're forgetting that we'll probably lose MLB Donnie Edwards, who is a tackling machine. We'll probably lose amazing backup RB Michael Turner and OG Kris Dielman. And Terrence Kiel will maybe go to jail.*
I think next year will be fine especially with most of our key playmakers back on the field. Our new offensive coordinator should do well, considering he was the RB coach (LT, 'nuff said). If we make it to the playoffs and actually WIN for once, Marty will stay. With Wade gone, it's still OK. Marty still wants to run the 3-4 defense and that should be good enough.
And LT cannot be on the Madden cover; he was on Sony's NFL Gameday in 1998 or some year like that, so he can't sign with EA Games.

Do not fret. I'm a Cowboys fan and am honored to have Wade Phillips at the helm. He helped build quite a defense over in San Diego. As long as you guys have that defense and LaDainian Tomlinson, you shouldn't worry about a thing. Schottenheimer leaving would probably be a better thing than you think. The players have already been coached up... they just need someone that can get to them to the playoffs and eventually the big game.

LT was the man behind the #1 scoring offense, not Cam. It doesn't matter what kind of play you draw up LT is just that damn good. We'll be just fine (although the "1 year left w/Marty" does concern me --but I know we'll get it done this year). I'm more concerned about maintaining Dielman and Phillips, and the loss of Donnie

I do not think there is anything to worry about. Just because the assistant coaches left doesn't mean everybody is instantly going to forget what they told them.
They now have the opportunity to learn even more from a new group of coaches.
As far as Schottenheimer being in his last year I don't think a new head coach is necessarily a bad thing.
Bottom line is - the defense will get better with Merriman having more experience. Rivers will get better in his second full year and L.T.
No need to worry at this point.

LT gonna be on the madden cover and hes gonna get a season ending injury and then the chargers will be 6-10. If that doesnt happens i say that even without the coaching staff they have good players and might be able to get a 11-5,
he cant be on?
well ****
I should get on the madden cover then.
Or drew brees.
Nah
I should.

Do Not be Concerned. Most of the key players will still be around. They're still pro's. At worst, they'll be 12-4. They're still the favorite in vegas to win it all.

Has to laugh at these Chargers fans that think they can overcome the Marty jinx. You could have the '72 Dolphins team, you could have the '85 Bears team, you could any one of the tremendous 49er teams of the past, and you'd still lose if you make it to the playoffs for one simple reason. The Marty Jinx.
