The Communists called it the "technique of the Big Lie." The idea is to discredit people you don't like by means of slander--repeating ridculous lies again and again in the hope of convincing others.

The problem with both the ultra-liberals and the ultra-conservatives on this site is they fail to realize most Americans are moderate. Liberal and conservative is simply thrown around wildly on this site as if it had a meaning that fit the majority of the American people. Liberals clearly do not want our troops to be harmed. These soldiers are the children of all of us--both liberals and conservatives. Are people really so ignorant that they think all the troops are conservatives, too? What the American people want is to save the lives of their troops. Why does everyone think withdrawal of our troops is a defeat? We desposed Saddam, the Iraqis hung him and we destroyed the various weapons he had. Did he have WMD? Maybe not nuclear, but he certainly had biological and chemical weapons. I have no doubt he would have developed nuclear weapons as fast as he could, also. They just weren't that advanced yet when we invaded. I don't blame Pres. Bush as much as some of the liberals on this site do. If Saddam had cooperated with the U.N. inspectors, we would not have invaded. Anyone who thinks we have to stay in Iraq until all violence between the Sunnis and Shiites have ceased have forgotten about 800 years of religious strife. Why can't anyone realize we already won this war?! Let's come home. Perhaps the real blame lies with President Bush's father who did not chase the Iraqis back to Baghdad during "Desert Storm", but even then he was honoring an United Nations Resolution. Maybe Clinton is at fault, too, for not doing more to avert Bin Laden, but he got distracted by the Oklahoma bombing. Good old American terrorism. Aren't we just great at Monday-morning quarterbacking every decision our leaders made?

The people who say this have tunnel vision. The Conservative party are known has status quo thinkers. Liberals are forward thinking ideology and the Conservative are frozen with fear. I am liberal don't want the American forces defeat...just want them to come home and be safe. Rational thinking about this situation was thrown out the window the day Bush convinced the Congress and American people that we need to invade Iraq. I for one never brought into this, because Bin Laden is the enemy not Hussein regarding the WTC 9/11/01. Saddens me that people would say this...because it takes both sides to make government run. Oops! Forgot Bush has tunnel-vision.

Liberals are the ones in favor of aborting American babies
Liberals are the ones who have yelled the most about Gitmo
Liberals are the ones screaming to protect the rights of terrorists
Liberals are the ones who spit on soldiers returning from Vietnam
Liberals are the ones who would turn over our country to the UN
Liberals are the ones who care more for criminals than victims
How many times can America afford to allow the liberals to pull us out of a conflict before the job is done and still be able to hold our place as a major power in the world? We are quickly getting the reputation of not finishing what we start. If that keeps up, no one will want us for an ally, because they know the Liberals will cut and run on them.

Because the people who do hate America and wish defeat upon the American forces claim to be liberal for some reason.

These people don't care if the statements they make are true or not. They like to label people & stir controversy with their stupid questions. They know full well, unless they are deaf, dumb & blind, that the American people don't wish defeat or for one hair on one service persons head to be harmed. They also don't seem to realize that we cannot be defeated, we have already won that war!

By demonizing liberals, somebody can ignore their arguments. (Not that liberals are any better some times.) In any case, once a person is demonized, people don't have to consider whether or not that person is wrong.

Because it's the only way Bush supporters have to distract away from taking responsibility for the foolish, fraudulent invasion of Iraq.
If I was bashing my head against the wall in an effort to knock it down but only getting bloody in the process - would you call me a quitter if I stopped? Or would you politely remind me that I was stupid for not using a sledgehammer in the first place? Or maybe the wall wasn't really a problem in the first place...
Every moment we spend occupying Iraq merely makes matters worse. It further inflames the region, further deteriorates our foreign relations, further extends our military, further spends resources which would be better spent elsewhere.
