I'm 19 years old. I'm still a virgin, and I've never had a pap smear before. I wanted to know how bad its going to feel since I'm still a virgin. And would it hurt less if I wasnt a virgin?

Usually you don't need one unless you are sexually active, perhaps unless you have a family history of cervical cancer. It doesn't hurt, it's just a bit awkward and you need to take a few deep breaths to help you relax because this will make it less uncomfortable. They use a tool to hold your vagina open which feels a bit strange, it is usually a bit cold but it is just smooth metal. The only part which causes any pain is when they take the scraping from your cervix. It feels like a little toothbrush made of wire scraping inside you but it is over very fast. You might feel a little bit strange after but that feeling doesn't last. Just relax and close your eyes if you like, go to a happy place and it will be over before you know it. I don't think it will hurt more being a virgin. I don't think they would need to break the hymen as there is enough room to maneuver the tool.

Hi there. A pap smear is done on the area around the cervix, so whether or not you are a virgin is irrelevant as it goes nowhere near your hymen. It can be uncomfortable when they use the metal gadget (the ducks bill!) and you can feel the wooden thing scraping inside you and it can hurt a little sometimes. It sort of feels like a bit of a tummy ache. I always wear a panty liner when I have a smear done as sometimes there is a little bleeding. Just remember that this is an essential part of women's health and you may never like them. I still don't after 20 years of having them done. LoL

The doc uses a long thin q-tip like thing to take the smear. It doesn't hurt and isn't even close to what sex feels like. If you are over 18 you need a pap test. The whole gyn exam is just so embarassing for us all, but we march on!

If you are a virgin and only 19, no pap is required or necessary. Pap smears are meant to detect papilloma virus that precedes cervical cancer. The virus is sexually transmitted. No sex, no virus. Get it? Don't worry so much. And by the way, good for you! It's refreshing to see someone so young be so responsible. I never contracted an STD, but I wasn't so responsible either. God bless...

It doesn't hurt any more or less depending on your virginity. It really doesn't hurt at all. A little uncomfortable, that's all. The worst part is when they push down on your stomach. and it is more a pressure than pain. (a tiny bit of pain, maybe)

It feels different from person to person. Virginity isn't what effects the feeling. It depends how tense you are. People usually don't feel anything, but if you are tense to may feel anything from a little pinch to a scraping sensation.

well I lost my virginty, but his penis was small. I got the pap smear during december and omg it was horrible. if you are a virgin its gonna hurt twice as bad. they open you up with a bird beak thing which hurts while its opened and it makes me scream. then they stick both fingers inside of you and rub on ur cervix and press ur tummy i hate it. just take deep breaths and try to relax. when its done its gonna feel weird like there is stuff leaking out of you. good luck! you might be in pain for a few days like I was
