To answer your question, if they are planning more Star Trek films with this cast, the short answer is yes. The box office numbers for this weekend reveal that this film has already grossed more than previous Star Trek films and is possibly on the way to being the highest grossing Star Trek film ever. If that isn't indication enough, Entertainment Weekly revealed last week that the cast of this new Enterprise is contracted to make two more films, the next to be released in two years, 2011. As for what I thought of the film, the visuals and direction are unsurpassed. But i didn't like how some of the characters were written or how Trek cannon was violated, but the writers offered themselves a way out, basically, all that takes place in the film happens in a separate timeline from the Original series. So according to this logic, this film doesn't really tell the story of how the original crew members from the Original series met. So the film is largely irrelevant to Trek cannon. All that takes place happens in a separate timeline.

I don't really favor any particular theme song, but Next Gen had several episodes that had a pretty good score to them.

The Borg from Best of Both Worlds part I and II had a pretty ominous theme to them.
