The depressed friend reminds me of myself when i was her age shes 9 yrs younger then me. I was feeling depressed and instead of talking to someone about what i was feeling i withdrew from my friends and i ended up losing them. I just wanted your thoughts on want i should do thanks.

depending on your closeness lol if and whether she has discussed an issue with you in previous situations if she has then let her know when she has these particular mood swings that she should know you are there for her and may not have an answer but always an ear to listen then with re to the friend that's fed up you are only caught in the middle if you allow it don't be with one and discuss about the other and vice versa as you do not know what the problem is and also depending on circumstance age etc she may be having mood swings as the reasons given by some of the other answers so be impartial and always a good listener you will find that she will respect you and let you know in future another way lol is when my friend goes moggy mad for no reason I give her a huge hug but that would again depend on your closeness xx good luck sweety sorry you feel caught up in the middle and hope she and you become closer and sort the problem hope I could be of assistance by giving you my thoughts

I think you should not get distant from her, since this is the time she needs your friendship and support the most. Try to talk to her to find out if she has family members that have depression (if it runs in her family) or if something is happening in her life for her to be that way. She probably doesn't mean to be that way, depression is a serious disease that can ruine people's life if not treated. Most people that do not have depression won't understand, and I'm glad that you're capable to identify this problem in your friend. Like I said, talk to her to see what's going on and then advice her to see the doctor.
I hope this helps!

Depression... Man it's a difficult thing... I'm depressed all the time and find myself in isolation. However, what does the trick is going to dinner with my friends, or bowling or just doing something to get my mind off things. Have a treat day for her. Make her feel loved. That should do it.

if someone has one big issue in their life, they normally make up excuses to get moody to draw attention to their troubles. its not unusual to have mood swings as this can be triggered by a number of things. i dont think it is fair of your friend to distance herself - your other friend probably cant think of a way of talking to you about her problems comfortably. if she doesnt want to talk you cant make her just let her know you're there to talk if she needs to. this will probably make her feel a lot better. the problem wont be there forever, it will just take time. try and be patient it will work out in the end. :)

Mood swings suggest to me your friend is either attached to someone in her life that is causing her to feel up one minute & down the next, or she might have PMS?
Only by questioning her are you likely to find out what's going on.
& she might be unable to put that into words.
If she is at school, perhaps mentioning your concerns to her Head teacher, might evoke some other form of help for her?

just explain to them how you feel and be there for them when they need you. being a friend to someone who is going through this means more than anything else that could do for them or give to them. explain to them how you felt and dealt with your depression. you can use this to inspire them which may help them overcome this. hope this helps. good luck.
