Check the oil for signs of water. First take off the oil filler cap and look at the inside of the cap itself. Look for white residue. Then look at dip stick. Again you're looking for white/brownish white residue. That's a sign of water in your crankcase which indicates a blown head gasket.

Blown head gasket will also be indicated by excessive white smoke from tail pipe that doesn't go away after engine temperature reaches normal operating range.

common signs are external leaks antifreeze on the outside of the motor. internal leaks oil in the antifreeze or antifreeze in the oil which shows up a milky brown kinda bubbly. also you may find exhuast gasses passing through the coolant which will show up as a black slime in the overflow container. and the #1 sign is overheating

Oil in the coolant or water in the oil, sometimes you will get an oily smell when you open the radiator cap which I once had. don't leave it too long as you may fill a cylinder with water and when you try to start destroy the engine.
