My friends suggested that I try out for football this year. Spring conditioning's starting soon. I'm 6'4, 220 pounds, and i can bench about 240. Help would be appreciated.

That's a great size to be to play football. If you like to hit, and let's hope you do... you'd be a great linebacker or defensive end. If you like the offensive side of the ball... you'd best be served at tight end, fullback, or according to your throwing abilities, quarterback. Man, if you work hard.. with that size, you could easily play college ball somewhere.

you should definitely try out
if you can catch and are decently fast, you could start at reciever just cause of your size. You could outmuscle the smaller corners that start in high school.
if you like to tackle, then go for a safety spot
you could be a punishing tackler, like roy williams or sean taylor
you have to be able to step out and cover a reciever, too
so work on taking your drop steps and reading the qb's eyes
good luck!

Based off just your size, I would suggest Tight End. If you have butter fingers and can't catch a cold, then move to weak side linebacker and put on 25 more pounds at least.

Run the 40 yard dash and have one of your buddys time you. Whatever it is........practice it and try to improve your time. You need to be somewhere between 4.8 sec - 5.2 to play linebacker. If you're slower than that , most likely you'll play line. the key is quick feet. Do sprints and cone drills. Good luck.

tight end is probably best with the size and lack of strength
on the o-line, you'd get pushed around by guys probably shorter and much stronger because of leverage, especially at the varsity level in high school. most guys your size on decent teams are benching 275+

It depends how fast you are, how strong you are,how high you could jump and how good your hands are. Since your 6'4, 220 and strong i'd say you'd be a good Tight End

If you are a Freshman and just getting started you will probably be placed on the D line to start. However, if you work on your speed and hands you have good size to be a tight end.

Center on offence or nose guard on defense; possibly fullback or defensive linebacker if you're fast enough; but I'd say offensive or defensive line. Your coach probably will, too. Good Luck and Bust 'Em Up!

I would start on the line. coaches always like a guy who knows how 2 block. Then maybe next year, u can switch 2 TE
