4 weeks ago I fractured my left shoulder. I'm a right handed person with the "trigger thumb." What can be done to get rid of the problem with the thumb without another shot?? Can this be cleared up and back to normal? Thank you

Give it a little more time. Some clear up after 1 to 3 cortisone injections. Others require surgery.

I had the same problem in the fall & cleared it up myself without any shots. I was even scheduled for surgery but when I got there the surgeon just laughed & sent me on my way.

Go to the pharmacy and buy one of the metal braces for broken fingers (there are shorter ones that fit the thumb). Wear it constantly even to bed, and the tendons in your thumb will heal on their own because you've immobilized the thumb & eliminated the stress. It took about a month and a half of wearing the brace and it completely cleared up. The surgeon doesn't think it will come back but just said that if I started to feel the clicking start up to wear the brace again for a couple of weeks to rest the tendon.

Good luck - I hope it works for you.

Lay off the computer and video games for a while and give it a chance to heal.
