Check out Anton Wilhelm Amo, he was born in Ghana in the early 1700s, raised in Germany, became a philosopher, was influential in German academic circles.

There was an African that accomplished something in Europe? I thought they didn't get to Europe until after they even went to the Americas.

I believe that you mean Africans, not African Americans. The moors are probably the most influential Africans that I can think of. They invaded and occupied Spain and Portugal for hundreds of years, changing the racial makeup, architecture, religion, and music of these areas.
