It is legal for a divorce to be handled with both parties being represented by the same attorney. However, she needs to be careful that the attorney is totally neutral and not working for the benefit of her ex. My suggestion is she find her own attorney and make sure everything is on the up and up.

No laws against it but strongly advised against it, especially taking on a wealthy guy. You can bet Mr. Rich is paying his attorneys alot to come out of the marriage with very minimal loss. By using the same attys he has a sight into everything you do. Now telling Mr Rich what youre doing is illegal but proving it in court is extremely hard. Its really amazing what money can buy whether legal or not. Get a seperate lawyer no matter what Mr Rich wants or advises, everything will not be alright with joint attys. Get a different atty and go after everything youre legally entitled to. Good luck

They can both use one lawyer as long as it's UNcontested. The lawyer(s) will draw up a Divorce Decree and they can ALL look over it together. She can take a red pen or highlighter with her and agree or disagree w/ whatever she wants, and as longs as they all agree, there's no problem. BUT>>> If there's ANYTHING she's unsure of and feels uneasy about she'll have to do a 180* out the door (w/ a copy of the Decree UNSIGNED) to her own lawyer. Most would look over it and give an opinion of what to do next.

IF its a mutual agreement it maybe ok. BUT if there is a conflict , thats called a conflict of interest. IT MAY NOT BE OK. IN most states this is not ok.
