you could try to design a large toy with different textures and colours but this will be the choice of many of the others in your class I guess so maybe a mat with a texture map. you should find out the likely age range and their cognitive develop stage to give you ideas for the level you should be aiming at

I remember when i was a child i had a doll with lots of different fastens on it. For example, the foot of the doll would have shoe laces and the jacket would have buttons, there were zips on the doll too as well as them velcro fasten things. I think its a pretty good idea since it's both educational and at the same time can be used as a play item...

I suggest you look on the Internet at some of the suppliers education people use such as hope education and see what is available and create something along similar lines. I work with children with special needs who use toys from that age range. What about a weather board including what the weather is like with symbols made form different fabrics including the days of the week and the months on different colour fabrics for each season.

No revision is required for the GCSE Textiles Exam - it is a PRACTICAL exam. I have looked at the certificate that has got my GCSE Textiles Result on and the Examining Board is AQA, and I DEFINITELY only did 1 exam for that and it was PRACTICAL.

I did textiles GCSE too. My first idea when you said this was something almost like a mood board for them. Something that they can touch with different materials etc on it.
Or a mat that can go on the floor with a map on it and different fabrics according to the regions or flags maybe?
Sorry it's probably a bit rubbish but I'm not that great with children!
