my hubby was in ICU after a hospital cock up in an op which led him to vomit 2 weeks of stagnant stomoch acid into his lungs -they failed to carry out pre op proceedures after already twice messing up a previous op and his aftercare before this emergency one - he lay practically dying on the table - i got the call to get to the hosp asap as they didnt think he was going to make it - he was wired up to no less than 16 tubes and wires...he was only being kept alive by the induced coma state and the monitors - everyday the dr's told me he would die today -we had been married only 6 months - and after 3 weeks of 100% life support and doing all they could including consulting a hospital in new zealand (im in uk) they said they would need to think about turning it off - i refused....i had him blessed, and prayed for, leaving daily notes in the chapel box - even giving him Reiki. to cut a very harrowing and long story short - he is here now and now 98% normal - after clinging to life by a thread -
Why would the friend have the right to pull the plug when it is down to the next of kin (unless they are) and the consultancy of the patients family........
there is always a chance of improvement no matter how small - and yu just need to cling to that and put your trust and faith in the Good man upstairs !

heck, I'd say shoot me before we ever got to the hospital and thought the possibility was there. why pay all that money out for a hospital bed when there's the slightest possibility I won't make it out of there alive?
get me to heaven faster anyways.
now, would I pull the plug on my friend if this happened? only if I'm a beneficiary.
(oh, get over it... I'm joking... I think)

i would not pull her plug if there was a chance. but i would do it if there was not even slightest chance of living. and yes, i would let her pull my plug.

I would let them be on it for a while but then I woul dhave to pull it unless we had talked about it earlier and I knew what he wanted. same goes for me but my friend now I do not want to be on life support.

Yes, I think I would prefer a clean death to possibly living in a vegetative state for the rest of my life.

No, I don't think I could ever kill myself or kill anyone unless it was self defense. So no.
