I have a uniform and i think its extremely beneficial. I never have to worry about my clothes. No one can ever judge me on clothing because were all wearing the same thing. Also, morning are soooo easy becuase i dont have to worry about my outfit. Also, since im into fashion, its kinda a fun challenge trying to accesorize in order to make the uniform look cute. Hope this helps!

Kids are judged by what they wear. Its a way to make everyone equal so no one is able to weather you shop at A&F or walmart.

Not all clothes worn to school are apropriate. And where I'm from, they're letting more and more slip past the dress code. Short skirts and shorts that JUST cover the butt. Shirts that would reveal WAY too much if the collar was cut an inch lower. Uniforms help keep school appropriate.

Kids don't have to spend forever deciding exactly what to wear to school. It's a lot more simple because they always wear the same thing. And they don't have to worry about if what they're wearing looks stupid.

By wearing a uniform 5 days a week, less money is spent on clothes. Parents can spend their money on more benificial things and teens will save more money since clothes shopping is a HUGE passtime.

When everyone looks the same, people who are not supposed to be in the school really stick out. This helps keep students safe,

Remember to write your reasons starting with the least important and ending with the most important to leave a lasting impression. If its persuasive, avoid using woirds like "i think" or "in my opinion". State everything as a fact.

Uniforms for students can be beneficial in ways of preventing kids from being attacked for their expensive clothing, as they do in many inner city schools.

It can help detour kids from judging one another by their latest fade. Avoiding the "clicks" by clothing gangs.

When they are all dressed the same, it can help those who might not, ordinarily, afford the more expensive clothing to feel as good as everyone else. Helping to begin on a more even playing field.

I don't really know of any sites to help you....Sorry. Maybe someone else will know that. But, you could contact nearly any private school and ask why they use this practice, and how it has helped their students?

Uniformity increases Creativity ? Uniformity and thinking in the box. Would Albert Einstein been a better student in uniform. Prisons & Public Schools Uniforms Improve Both

School uniforms are an attempt to make everyone equal...just like Communism...great! :D Seriously, though, there seem to be alot more cons than pros. They may keep kids from breaking dress codes, and judging others' clothes, but they also send the message (even more so than most schools already do) that individuality is wrong, and that it's OK to stifle creativity. Also, kids will still find just as many reasons to judge others, with or without uniforms.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS In recent years the face of public schools has changed drastically. Our schools were always intended to be a place where the students could go and learn in a safe and secure environment. Unfortunately for us, the times have changed; discipline, safety and security in our public schools have all fallen by the wayside. Today, our children are faced with the growing threat of violence and crime in their classrooms. In aspirations of bringing back the essential requirements for education in the classroom numerous parents, teachers, and school officials have come to conclusion that requiring school uniforms is a clear-cut step in reversing the downward trend of our schools. The majority feel that school uniforms will help expedite the effort to guide our schools back in the right direction. The implementation of school uniforms has the potential to help bring under control the disciplinary problems found in our schools, and it can do so in many ways. It could end the needless violence that occurs from the strong-arm robberies and thefts at our schools. These senseless acts largely occur due to the designer clothing, expensive jewelry, and high cost brand name footwear that are being worn to class. Uniforms can furthermore help deter the display of gang activity in the school. The simple logic behind this is, gangs would not be permitted to wear their gang colors during school because of the uniform regulations. School uniforms could also help deter the trend of cutting class or skipping school. Because if students were outfitted in mandatory school uniforms, they could be easily recognized outside the school grounds during the normal school day.

Potential Benefits of School Uniforms

* Preventing gang colors, etc. in schools
* Decreasing violence and theft because of clothing and shoes
* Instilling discipline among students
* Reducing need for administrators and teachers to be 'clothes police' (for example, determining whether shorts are too short, etc.)
* Reducing distractions for students
* Instilling a sense of community
* Helping schools recognize those who do not belong on campus

Potential problems of School Uniforms

* Students and parents argue that uniforms violate their freedom of expression (see below for more about what the Supreme Court has to say on this)
* Parents raise concerns about the cost
* Families fear it might interfere with religious clothing like yarmulkes

Parent and Student Support for Uniforms

* Make uniforms more casual - jeans and a knit shirt
* Allow students an outlet for their own expression: buttons to support political candidates, but not gang related paraphernalia
* Provide financial assistance to those parents who can not afford the uniforms
* Accommodate students religious beliefs. This is required by the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
* Make your program voluntary if community pressure is too large
* Institute an 'opt-out' provision. Not including this would probably cause a court to rule against your program unless there is proof that lesser measures are ineffective.
* Make uniforms an integral part of the school safety program.

Each school has its own uniform policy or dress code. This will normally be set out in the school’s brochure or handbook.

The school's governors decide the uniform policy. They must consider the impact this may have on parents and pupils, for example with costs. Parents should raise any complaints about school uniform or dress codes with the governing body of their school.

It is the headteacher’s job to make sure that pupils follow the agreed rules on clothing.

With a uniform, the kids are (in theory) supposed to be less concerned with their appearance and showing off to their friends, or flaunting their wealth to others.

Since everyone wears the same uniform, they are all the same. That allows the kids to focus more on the actual schoolwork and less on impressing each other.

It is also supposed to promote school spirit and camaraderie since you might see each other on the street or on a bus and you will be recognized.

1. They reduce competition in dressing between students and have everyone regardless of economic background on an equal field.

2. They promote a sense of unity among students.

3. In today's safety conscious world, they can make students easier to identify from strangers inside a school building.
