implication as in fine; conviction etc for an individual or the company they work for?
i havnt done it but im looking for some written confirmation of this to show others.

If the Data Protection Act has been breached by someone at work and there is evidence to prove that this has been done the employee could be sacked and prosecuted if it is reported. Essentially it equates to a breakdown in trust. Employers cannot tolerate workers who leak sensitive details about their customers, clients, patients etc. because it damages the confidence of others using that organisation. Also the information gained by the dishonest employee may be used for further criminal offences such as identity theft which can lead to fraud. Breachs of the Data Protection Act are taken very seriously by the Police and Courts. A conviction for breaking the Data Protection Act is going to seriously damage the chances of that person from gaining a future offer of employment especially if the job involves handling sensitive information.
