You know that's a very good point. I guess because our country is so wealthy compared to other nations that it appears as a more compassionate act when you pull a young child out of poverty in a 3rd world country. But I agree with you. Poverty is poverty no matter where it is.

l agree that they should look at home first, but it's nowhere near as easy as you seem to think. I have dealt with this issue in the law firm where I work. We get tons of letters from couples looking for babies to adopt. We are not involved with bringing birth moms and prospective adoptive parents together, so we refer them to people and places that do, and we always hear the same thing- "but we already tried that with no luck!". Here in America, people are more likely to keep their babies even if it means staying on the welfare train forever. Most of the kids available for adoption here are not infants; they are older children and/or have health and mental conditions that people don't want to deal with. Sad, but true.

I guess it's kind of annoying. But true, there are children here that need homes but their living in foster care with food and shelter. Those kids in the other countries are starving and have no homes. The celebs should stop preaching about it, though. There's plenty of people here who need help and are getting nothing. Sure, they can go live in a shelter, but none of these celebs are giving money to these shelters.

So true, they just want to look like humanitarians and it is just a publicity stunt.

I don't hate it. I'm neutral about it.
