Feminist means seeking equality for women and others who have suffered from oppression. This can mean older people, minorities, poor, other religions. The reason that people feel that it means that one has to hate males is that men who feel they may lose out negatively by having to share their privilege have started all that nonsense. Why would they want to lose their power to others? If you don't believe me look it up in a dictionary, or check out some sites on the net. Universities offer Women's Studies which examines females and the place they hold in society.

"Feminist" can have many different definitions, depending on who you ask. Some people may claim feminists hate men, or want to be men. Other people say that feminist means simply trying to reach societal equality with men, such as equal pay and equal opportunity. I consider myself a feminist, but I certainly love men, and don't believe that men purposefully try to subjugate women (in the United States at least.) And for the most part, most feminists I know fall into the latter category, and only the most radical women are of the former category.

Feminism these days means that we have the vote, legislation to ensure we should get equal pay and not treated unfavourably because we are women - it doesn't mean we all wear dungarees comfortable shoes or hate men. I am feminine but I am also a feminist. Because of early feminist groups we have the freedom we have today and we are able to waste our time here in answers instead of it being our sole purpose in life to look after the home, family or the men in our life.

There are so many misconceptions about feminists these days. Women are so scared to be labeled one that they stop standing up for their rights as women. I am a feminist who just wants women to be valued as much as men are by society.

And for the record, I look nothing like the stereotypical feminist. Most feminists don't. There is no way to tell if a person is one by the way that they look. So let it go.

Men and women can have feminist views. basically the belief that men and women should have equal rights and share responsibilities such as child care, housework, equal pay and equal opps. basically, the personal is political.

A feminist is a woman who stands up for her rights, even if it means she has to trample her man to do it.

The media and the Right have warped feminism into a cult of angry, man-hating lesbians. In reality, it's a movement for the social, political, legal, and economic equality of the sexes. Trust me on this one.

Choice. It is about giving women the choices to live the lifestyle they choose, to work, study, go to the same colleges, have the same opportunities, or have children or cook and clean.....if that is what they want.

Hate-filled, misandrist hypocrites. They love to associate all of society's ills with men when their anger shows just how much 'better' they are.
