He seems to find a way around every possibility and question, to me this seems bogus, why in the heck would he need a computer from 1976 to fix computer programs in 2036, surely there are better things available in the future to solve the problem.

I am not sure what to believe. Sounds like a fictional movie/book though. But you never know, it could be possible. I mean before Einstein died, he proposed a way to travel in time but never got to finsh the equation or whatever.

I see nothing that would make me believe such. Too much like cap. Kirk ,I could never see how he justified what he did. A commander on our navy carrier would never go himself.
