my teacher usually gives totally random assignments, and today's no different - i need 15 things that are unique to america. i have two - job opputunities & diversity.

I would probably say the American education system.
It differs widely from many foreign in educational institutions; it uses nationalist devices within schools as form of value consensus, pledging allegiance to the flag for example.
The cultural content used in American syllabuses is somewhat limited. Some statistics even state that only one in three American children can locate America on an unmarked map - although this is just a statistic i heard in a previous history lesson.
It should also be noted that in many American schools, religious and scientific knowledge is socially distributed to correspond with the ideals and morals held by the surrounding society and the institution in hand. A good example of this is the condemnation of evolution theories in many schools across America.

Let's see... Freedom of speech (sort of) and the bill of rights. McDonald's and Wal-Mart and their affects on the nation. Technology. The 3 branches of government. The entertainment industry. Capitalism. Hope that gets the mind turning a little.

How about the assembly line? I think that was invented by Henry Ford and he was an American. That revolutionized manufacturing. Also, the vulcanization of rubber is unique to the U.S. We invented that process too.
