the wax has hardened, anything that will make it liquid will ruin the paint. A small scraper (pocket knife) and a lot of patience

Try using a paper towel and some waxed paper then take an iron on low heat and put the paper towel on the paint first then the waxed paper then the iron on for a few seconds and keep testing until it comes off, the waxed paper will help the paper towel get the oil out of the wall from the candle and prevent the paper towel from burning. There will be less of a stain on the wall.

well you say you have used a magic eraser so you have taken off any hard wax , Now with a brown paper bag, or the type of brown paper you would use for wrapping up parcels to send by post , Place the paper over the wax mark ,and with a warm to hot iron , iron over the paper this will lift the wax onto the paper. This also work´s with any wax that has been spilled on carpets & clothes

Some wax gets very brittle when it is frozen. Try ice and then a small pick to flake it off. If you want to keep the area dry, use dry ice. It will still be moist from ambient moisture but it will be drier.

try using an iron with a paper towel over it. Be sure to use your iron on a low setting though, it will burn your paper towel.
