i told the sex would be the same so you would not say i had to leave room for fry, and the inch per gallon does not work. Also they are swordtails, not swordfish

6-8 would be a good number. That will leave them enough room to really grow.

swordtails run 4 to 5 inches in length not 1/2"
so according to that 11 with the 1" per gallon rule
personally i would put 20 of them in along with the cories and the shrimp
i have always gone 1/2 gallon to the inch
and have even gone 1/4 gallon to the inch
and all of my fish are perfect
but my tanks are also over filtrated, with under gravel and external filters

The sex of a fish doesn't matter too much. The rule of thumb for any fish is a gallon per an inch. Since you have shrimp though, you can put a few, since they are bottom dwellers. Make sure to get Bamboo shrimp. They are safe around all fish. Other shrimps may eat you fish, even if they are 2times as large.Swordtails are usally 2-4inches each as audults.
Good luck!!!

They inch per gallon is what all professionals and fish raising guides use. Don't understand why it won't work you. A Swordtail is about 1/2 inch, don't know what a Corie is, shrimp are negligible. IT'S NOT THE LENGTH OF THE FISH....IT IS THE APPROXIMATE SQUARE INCH

You can have 1 inch of fish for every gallon of water, as long as you clean the tank every few weeks. Remember not to get all your fish at once, but to add a few at a time.

on an average, you should allow 2 gallons of water per fish for swordfish. swords, though listed as non agressive, are territorial fish and will nip fins if they feel over crowded.
